{A Flair for Buttons}

Camping fun

Hey everyone, Michelle here today with a new summer LO!  I was so excited when I got these new camping flair buttons and they went perfectly with the new Simple Stories Cabin Fever collection.  These are some older photos of my daughter when she was 6 years old.  I love how simple snapshots can tell a story.

African ATCs by Riikka

Hello there! It's Riikka here to share some ATCs with you! These cards got their inspiration from the Animal 3 set. I chose three animals that share a continent, Africa, and then tried to capture the African vibe in the backgrounds, too.

The set has three cards - the lion, the gorilla and the giraffe. While the flairs are different all the other elements are similar. The background is mono printed with acrylic paints. On top I added some brown ink and then stamped with black ink and white paint. The layers under the flairs have bright colors and summer theme.

Hi Orange Gearle here with a layout and process video using flair from the Watercolors set. In fact, the design of my layout was inspired by one of the pieces of flair in the set!  Here's my layout:

And here is the flair that started it all:

When I saw that flowery flair, I knew I wanted to design a layout that would include watercolors and flowers. And so I used a cut file from the Silhouette store to make several flowers and used gelatos and a water brush to add color. I also stitched around a few of them. Here are a few close up shots:

Summer Memories

Hello AFFB fans! It's summer in my neck of the woods and because I am in summer mode I thought I would create a layout of chilling on my deck that I renovated last year.

I added a flair button to the top right hand corner of my page and near the bottom right corner of my page from the Say Hello To Summer Flair set.  

I also added a red heart flair button from the Just Heart 2 set because summer is definitely something to love, don't you think?

If you check out the layout, you will notice that I placed the flair buttons in a triangle around the layout to lead the eye around the page.

Hi Orange Gearle here with a summertime layout for you. Over the 4th of July weekend we did a little traveling and stayed overnight at a hotel for a couple of nights. My daughter was determined to swim across the pool -- even through the deep end. She practiced and practiced and she did it. So, this story had to be documented and wouldn't you know it? The perfect flair is available in the {A Flair For Buttons} store!

I soon as I saw this flair in the shop I knew that I would use it on a layout with a blue pool picture and some blue and aqua mixed media in the background! I was just waiting for the right story!

I used one piece of flair as part of my title -- it was perfect for this layout and the story.

And could this Pool Time flair be any more perfect?  I don't think so!  I was also able to pair this flair with some acrylic pieces from Color Cast Designs that matched just perfectly! So thankful to get this story told!

Inspiration howwhatwhen - layout by Riikka

I'm so intrigued about inspiration. How it works, what happens in our brain when inspiration strikes, how the creative process differs between different people and different brands of art and so forth. So if I would win a huge jackpot, I would love to start to study the creative process and inspiration! 

I've tried to start to find out more about the inspiration but it's a surprisingly hard subject! There's countless book on how to gather inspiration, the self-help styled books, but I haven't found a scientific styled book about it. The best book I've read so far was about the different creative process of writers and poets. What that book made clear was that most of the writers in the book had a strict schedule and worked hard. 

I tried to capture the inspiration theme in the page, too. The photo is from a stack of books I borrowed from the library about the subject. Around the photo there's sprinkle of stars - like to present the moment when inspiration strikes. There's the number flair for the countless ways you can be inspired, the paper airplane and the cloud represent the souring inspiration and the "get it girl" as a wish for myself.

This picture of my son reading has been wondering around my craft table for quite a bit. It's edited with a Prisma app filter, and I just love how it turned out with its' vibrant colors. So when I came across this fun rectangle paper from One Canoe Two, I knew it was finally going to land on a page.

I kept the layout really simple. A sheet of white cardstock, to which I added some soft color with Gelatos. A broad strip of patterned papers and just a few embellishments. 

My journaling is done with an old typewriter, which is then cut into narrow strips. The 'do what makes your soul happy' flair from the Inspirational Words 2 set fits this layout perfectly.

Our Home and Native Land

Hey everyone, it's Michelle here today with a patriotic LO as we celebrate Canada Day!  I was so excited when I saw the Canada flair in the shop.  As a Canadian it's so hard to find anything Canada themed.  I used the Sweet Freedom collection from Pink Paislee and a cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

I love that photo of my daughter showing her Canadian pride at the parade last year!
