Hey, friends! Missy back with you today. I'm SO excited to share my latest layout with you! I used the Autism Flair set, and it was one of the flair that actually inspired the design of my page. I love the rainbow hand print flair, and so I decided to create my own rainbow hand. I did this using acrylic paint, and I just used my hand as a stamp. I LOVE how it turned out! I wanted to create a special design for these photos of me and my girls last month for Autism Awareness Month. Both of my sweet babies are on the Austim Spectrum and are nonverbal. Yes, this is a challenge, no doubt. But it's also an amazing journey, and I've learned so much from these girls. And the most important thing is they are happy and full of life!
After the painted hand dried, I used some of my Shimmerz watercolor sprays to create a watercolor look and add more color. I didn't use any specific collection for this...just some bits & pieces from Me & My Big Ideas and Simple Stories.

Eeek! I'm obsessed with how this turned out! The colors are amazing, and they match the hand print flair perfectly. I added lots of rainbow colored thread behind my photos and the flair button. Our life with Autism is certainly messy, and I wanted this page to reflect that. Besides, life is more fun when you're messy, right? Maybe this is why I love mixed media so much...hmmmmm....
I added this flair to the right of my photo strip with some oranged thread. I also used a clear sticker from Amy Tan Rise & Shine. I mixed and matched my title and added a strip of rainbow washi tape.
This title is made up of a Cameo cut, some Elle's Studio alpha stamps and some Thickers. They were white and I used the red acrylic paint to color them. This title is from one of Temple Grandin's books. She's an Animal Science professor in Colorado, and she travels and gives lectures on Autism and animals. She's pretty much a genius and is probably the most fascinating person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can only dream of my girls accomplishing everything she has! You should look her up and read about everything she's done in her life.
Here you can see all that yummy thread and the stickers. And I love how the watercolor turned out. I used some blue, yellow, red and black. I didn't want to go overboard with the red since it could look like I bled all over the page...haha :D
Here's one more close up of the bottom area. I added a few more stickers and a fun and bright border paper that I've had in my stash. I also machine stitched around the edges.
I was so excited about making this page, so I filmed it and made a process video. I hope it inspires you to get a little messy and perhaps learn a little more about our wild and crazy life :)
