Hi there! Ashli here to share some fun holiday gift ideas with you. One thing I love most about flair is it's ability to take something from ordinary to extraordinary. Let's dive in and see how we can put that to the test with some handmade gifts!
First up, I have an ornament that doubles as a home decor piece...
You know, no pressure for the recipient... if they love it to bits, they can hang it on the wall, year round. But, if they are not over the heels in love with it, it works as an ornament too :)
After playing around with some mixed media and such on a basic wood scrap, I simply smooshied the flair into some white paint blobs.
Next up is a fun ribbon magnet badge (I guess that's the official name)...
This could not have been easier! Now, I realize this is not Christmassy in it's own right, however, it is a super simple gift to put together that anyone is sure to love. I simply layered up my elements to make a ribbon badge, adhered my flair, and attached a magnet to the back:
Next up, is a gift tag made of tissue, watercolor paints, and flair... of course! For more info on my technique for working with tissue like this, check out this blog post.
I just love the way it looks tied around this package!
And last, but not least, I have a Christmas wreath!
There's more of that tissue again! This time, I embedded the flair in some wax. Let me just say what a testiment this is to the quality of our flair! I had the heat gun mere inches from that flair, while melting the wax and the little badges were not effected at all! Amazing!
In fact all of the flair on this wreath was adhered that way...
So, I suppose it is worth noting that this technique might not work for your summer wreath, or for a wreath above your fireplace. But, it will work just fine on your front door in the winter... even down here in Georgia!
The entire wreath is simply an MDF base that has been collaged and stamped. Easy, fun, and unexpected! My requirements for home decor :)
I hope you have enoyed these ideas for incorporating flair into your homemade gifts this season. All of the flair used in these projects, and much more, can be found in the SHOP.
See you next time for some non-holiday gifts with flair!
