Firstly, Happy Halloween to you all...I am sure that your preparations for the big day are coming along and loads of Candy will be collected :)

I thought I would pop in really quickly and share a card that I whipped up in less then a 1/2 hr, I was so on a roll that day, that does not happen all the time, so when I am on that roll I certainly make the most of it :)

I love the vintage look and so when I saw the Sew 1 Flair I knew I was going to create loads of cards using these buttons..

 

I went with a really simple card, just adding Crate Paper, Shop pattern paper, stamping vintage lady, dress form and sentiment from Hero Arts stamps and finished off with adding a cute flair and some sewing, super simple..

I sure hope that this card gives you some inspiration to create with some fun flair!

Mix & Match

Happy Hump Day friends,

It's Wednesday, which means we've made it half way through the week.  The hard part is behind us, hopefully it's all smooth sailing now until the weekend finally arrives.  

Today I have a layout to share with you using some of our wonderful flair accents to help ground peices in my embellishment clusters.  It's one of my favourite ways to use flair buttons.  When grouping several items together to add visual interest, or simply to balance out a layout design, flair adds an easy and attractive way to really ground the grouping, keeping it from looking random and distracting on your layout.  Remember our series on No More Floating Flair?  Well this is exactly what Ashli was talking about.

Notice how my flair buttons are really securing all of the mini groupings I have on the page.  And notice how they are all colour coordinated.  We don't always have to use the same flair buttons from one set to create our page.  Feel free to mix and match designs, and colours to best suite the design and colours of the project you are working on.

I've hidden my journaling on this layout using a tag tucked into an envelope.  The reason for this was more out of necessity, as my finished layout didn't leave space to write all the things I wanted to say.

 Hi, Daniela here! I think flair adds that perfect touch to any project especially cards and that is where I love to use them the most. Here are some of my recent creations. 

I hope you find inspiration in my cards and that they inspire you to add just a little flair to your projects, too. You can find all these, and lots more in the shop { a flair for buttons }.

What's on your Bucket List

This Bucket List {flair} came in a set I received.  I don't really have a formal bucket list but I thought about making one.  Have you?

My son has started to make a list of all the roller coasters out there that he wants to ride on.  He's a thrill seeker.  He went on his first coaster at 2.  The dinosaur one at Legoland.  No, we can't keep him off.  He gets mad at the ride operators if they tell him he's not tall enough.  He's going to conquer each and every coaster he can.  

So when I found this older photo of him, he just happened to be in my office using my Mac to look at videos of roller coasters on Youtube.  He and his dad.  Both thrill seekers.  Making their Coaster Bucket List.

OBI WAN

Mary-Ann here!  My son has recently been repeating, (and I mean REPEATING!) "How much wood can a woodchuck chuck....." So I have that tune in my head but with different words, "How much flair can you fit on a page...." Get the idea?  With Halloween fast approaching, I needed to do something with last years photos.  I have included 5 flair on this 12x12 layout!  With repetition being the key word around here lately, I decided to repeat flair going down my page, creating a straight line.  There is never too much flair!

 

If you look closely at this page, it rather quite simple.  I layered three papers for my base and let the paper design do most of the work.  A couple random strips of paper, a few cut circle from the paper, a tag, washi tape, a title, cute photo and flair.  Lots of it!  I had several other photos that I wanted to use as well so I decided to accompany this layout with a Project Life page.  My first ever!

 

With using an assortment of photos, there is not much room for embellishing.  So, I kept this side simple as well.  This Teresa Collins line was a perfect pairing for my spooky pictures.

A little of this and a bit of that

Hey everyone, Diane here! I've been digging into my flair stash lately to create some fun layouts. I couldn't decide which layout to share so I'm sharing three I created in the last couple weeks.

Let's get started.

First up is My Travel Bucket List.

I loved this photo I had taken from my seat on a flight earlier in the year and decided to use it for a layout about all the places I would like to visit some day. The Maps 2 Flair was perfect for embellishing this layout.

On this next layout, I wanted to document the hard classes that my son is taking his Senior year.

I had my son write his classes on die cut labels...I love that it is in his hand writing. The Chalk Words Flair was a great fit for the theme of the layout.

On this last layout, I used a photo I took of my son during his Senior pictures. Having his picture taken is not his favorite thing to do, lol, so I used this layout to simply tell that story. I don't know many boys that do like having photos taken, do you?!

The colors and theme of the Cute Cameras Flair were the perfect finishing touches I was looking for on this layout.

Sharing some great projects using {a flair for buttons} flair....

When I saw Danielle Gaudet's projects posted on Instagram I was so excited!!! I just love how she used the December 2013 (December Daily) flair. First is this adorable frame assorted flair.

And then she made this adorable card with flair in the shape of a Christmas tree that can be removed. It's a card with a gift attached!!!!! How brillian is that!! :)

It's so fun to see how you talented scrappers use {a flair for buttons} flair!!! Danielle thank you for letting me share your incredible projects!!!!

Being a Kid

After more than a month of being too busy to craft, I finally sat down and forced myself.  Part of my strategy was to pour out every drawer from my {flair} storage and challenge myself to use some of the pieces I'd been hoarding.

I think the many hearts, stars and arrow sets in the shop are perfect for any project.  I also borrowed a technique from Ashli's 'No Floating Flair' series and backed my flair with some string and enamel dots.

RED SOX

Of course everyone has their own favorite ball teams.  We here in the Maldonado house hold, root for all New England teams: Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox.  My boys were lucky and went to a Red Sox game last year and I was lucky enough to receive some really cool baseball flair to spruce up my layout.  I started with the "Antiquary" monthly club kit club from Studio Calico.  Threw in random Teresa Collins word strips, Studio Calico Tags, Whisker Graphics twine and some Freckled Fawn paperclip arrows.  This layout was super fun!  The bright colors highlight the excitement on my boys faces.  They just really enjoy doing anything together.

I used wet adhesive to attach these clear acetate letters.  Covering the entire back with a wet glue, makes it so you don't see any adhesive.  

 

Didn't want to part with baseball flair.  It is my fav.  I anchored it with a circle.  The dark blue border helps the white flair pop off the white paper.

 

Here you can see how I buckled my word strips to provide additional dimension to my layout.

 

If you look closely at the photo, in the upper left corner, you will see photo bombers.  I cleverly placed a word bubble with word strips and voila, they were gone!

My Lucky Stars

Happy Friday everyone,

It's Sherri here, and I am thrilled to be making my debut on the A Flair For Buttons blog.  I thought it would be appropriate for me to introduce you to my crew, and give you an idea of the style of pages you can expect to see from me.

I am a married mom of 3 girls.  They all dance competitively, which means we spend many nights a week at the dance studio and they love every minute of it.  I love watching them do what they love.  I actually take an Adult Tap class as well.  It's a ton of fun, I may look a little crazy at times, but I really do love keeping my brain sharp in this way.  

With such a busy schedule, it is a rare thing to get all of us in front of the camera.  It's hard enough just to get all three girls in one shot, never mind hubby.  The gorgeous scenery this time of year on the prairies however was bribery enough to get everyone out for a little photo shoot a couple of weeks ago.

I love these people, they are my life.  The Family flair peice from the Here & Now set just had to make it's way onto my layout. And I love the script on script of the Go, Go, Go 2  flair button on top of the Pink Paislee butterfly.

You'll see many a clusters on my layouts.  I like white space, doilies, tags, and using clusters of embellishments.  In this case the daintiness of these two peices from the More Cameras set added a nice touch to the softness of my layout. (the "lucky" cut file is from Kerri Bradford)

Shelley created these gorgeous burlap flair buttons just recently. 

I've decided that I'm not going to scrap any more of the photos from our little shoot until I get these in the mail.  They are such a good fit for Fall photos, I just need to use them.

So that's me, in a nutshell.  I hope I've able to inspire you to use flair in a fun and creative way on your own crafty projects today.

Finding just the right one

I'm addicted to flair.  I have a lot of it.  In my defense, I use it on a lot of my projects.  I used 10+ pieces in my last mini book.  I have a lot of those random pieces from sets.  As a DT member, I get to pick my sets and Shelley sends those + more.  So I have those pieces that came in a set that I had to have for 1-2 pieces.  The rest, go into my flair storage (sorted by theme) for later use.

Thats where I found this awesome button.  The camera shutter.  It just happened to fit right into the lens opening on this camera from the Say Cheese line from Simple Stories.  I've been dying to get my hands on this line and it finally came.  

One of my favorite things is digging through my random flair to find just the right piece.

Hi it's Mary-Ann here, ever have those times when you start and finish a project and what you had in mind does not translate to paper?  Then, you tear it apart and start all over again?  That happened to me on this layout.  Sometimes things come naturally, other times, its forced.  Well, you should have see the "dirty" part of my layout before.  NOT pretty!  This rendition is much better and I would love to share my labor intensive layout with you:o)

 

 

I sprayed three different color inks to get my desired look on my cardstock base.

 

 

Then I totally stole this idea from a fellow blogger from Ashli Oliver and spread Gesso over my patterned paper at the bottom of my layout.  It helped soften the darker colors.  I hand drew in some of the arrows that I wanted to stand out.  

 

 

Layered my October Afternoon papers, stickers, A Flair for Buttons flair, My Mind's Eye enamels and October Afternoon brads.  You will see below on the completed layout that I used the same spray ink to add color to my title from Fancy Pants and wood veneers from Basic Grey.

 

 

 

This end result is a much more pulled together layout than the last!  Blue, gray and pink make me happy when they are together.  This photo is celebrating my 8th Mother's day because of that beautiful boy with me.  I am blessed.

I found this metal clipboard at a second hand shop and thought it would make a great place to keep my "junking" photos and inspiration! My flair is open backed and I added a magnet (also found in the shop) to the flair and attached them to my metal clipboard. For this project I used DCWV Vintage Collector Stack!! It has wood, chevrons, graph, and other papers that were just perfect for this project. 

I added some DCWV paper to a magnet sheet and then cut strips to make some fun magnetic strip photo holders! This collection was so fun to work with. I used "Woodgrain Days of the Week" flair and one flair from "Scrapbooker 1".

A Day in the Life of a Scrap Addict

Hello my fellow crafters and scrap addicts, um, I mean scrappers. :) Today I have a fun layout to share about a day in my life, as a scrapper. I mean really, I go through each and every day being inspired by the things I see around me and only wishing I was in my scrap room. My day is a total distraction, until I can get busy working on my ideas at night, lol. I thought I would poke a little fun at myself with this topic and did a high level overview of the constant crafty chatter in my brain...A Day in the Life of a Scrap Addict.

I found the perfect flair to complement my layout, both with butterflies, one including the phrase "live a creative life."
