All caught up? Great! Let's get started! In the previously mentioned posts we have looked at a couple of design principles and good concepts to remember when trying to avoid that pesky floating Flair.
As we move forward in our series, please keep all of those ideas in the forefront of your creative brain as we look at some fun, and perhaps new or different ideas on how to use all that fun Flair in your stash.

Add Some Whimsy With Hanging Flair!
Let's take a look. Here I have a layout that is mostly complete, but I still need to include my Lovely Words Flair, along with the usual finishing touches....

That looks nice, ligned up on the left there. However, this page is all about a super fun trip to Disney and I think that deserves a bit more whimsy in the design.

Now that's a little better. This would be ok too! My Flair is both grounded using the layers below and the concept of tension. But, I want more fun...

Ta Da! Now that's what i'm talkin' about! I removed the larger white layer below the Flair (to help keep a sense of movement), shifted their positioning slightly and then added in some twine. So.Much.Fun.
When choosing the placement of each individual Flair badge, I paid close attention to color and visual weight. I didn't want the badge with the blue background too close to that blue polaroid frame, for instance. Also, the red heart has a stronger visual presence than the more grey badge, so it went on the bottom as I want the eye drawn down to the photograph.

That is definitely the ticket, but I do want to introduce some more white back into that area. Scalloped circles it is! This isn't the only solution. I could have also tried paint splatters, washi, gems, enamel dots, etc....
The idea was that I wanted more white to help move the eye across the page...

And then...
Once I added my title, jouranling, and doodles...
Here we have it!

I just love the whimsy and movement this adds to my page about Disney!
Now, in case you follow my blog and wonder when I will ever be done scrapbooking Dinsey... I'm done! This is simply a reference page for our 2012 album that points you to "see more" in the Disney albums. A lovely little tip I learned from Shimelle in her Cover to Cover class :)

Alrighty... Let's Review:
- For a fun and unexpected element on your layout, try hanging your Flair from twine, ribbon, washi, or even just a strip of paper.
- Less layers behind the Flair will insure that it remains a strong design element and helps the Flair maintain it's feeling of movement.
- Take care in arranging your Flair and try to create a good balance of color and visual "weight."
I hope this has inspired you to add a little whimsy with Flair in your next scrapbooking project! Remember...
