Good morning every one!
Michelle here with a new page using A Flair For Buttons pins and the wonderful "Ready, Set, Go!" line from Amy Tangerine for American Crafts.
I've had a whirlwind of a September. When I finally looked up and noticed what was going on around me, the month was done!
Being a working Mom means missing things.
A story.
I took my three year old and very "active" daughter, Lola, to the park across the street.
I was carying the buckets, the kite, the bookbag with spare clothes, the camera, talking to Lola's Uncle and making plans with The Husband for the next day.
I was not paying attention.
Lola was chasing the Canada Geese (and ignoring their 6 foot long wing span- a human trait American's Funniest Home Video has based 22 seasons on)
She was "playing tag" with other kids- they were not in on the fun.
She was throwing rocks. At everyone. She doesn't miss. Ever.
My daughter was THE TERROR OF THE PLAYGROUND.
So I put Miss Thang on "time out".
Time Out is new to Lola who is used to being the ruler of the roost but I had visions of a 13 year-old Lola pulling tricks like kicking Geese and bulling younger children.
Oh. Hot and ugly place, NO.
Not on MY watch.
I guess it's not really time-out if you sit with the child and talk to her... forgive me- I'm a first timer.
Lola's uncle took this photo using his brand new telephoto lens and panoramic setting.
At the time I was telling her not to rip up the clover because bees needed it for making honey. Yeah, I'm one of those parents.
Lola was studiously looking anywhere but me.
I was getting frustrated.
Then, a few days later, I saw this photo and realized- she WAS listening.
Could she be immitating me?
Am I overly enthusiastic, roung and tumble, inquisitive and well, Tigger-ish? (Bounce BOUNCE! BOUNCE!!!!)
So my lesson this week was- be still.
Smile more.
Focus on the moment.
And for goodness' sake- remember she's only THREE. YEESH!
Have a great rest of the week!
