Hey all you shutterbugs out there have I got a couple of cool sites for you! First is the Poladroid! This is an application that will turn any photo into a polaroid just by clicking and dragging it to this adorable little blue polaroid camera that pops up on your desktop once you download the program! It even makes the cool sound that a polaroid camera makes! You can adjust the settings and save your "polaroid" for printing and/or you can add it to your Flickr pool! They even have a Flickr group you can join and a Polablog! Here are a couple of mine!
The other site is called Rollip and they have some great ways to make polaroid looking photos that you can print as well. What I really like about their site is the effects that you can choose from. Here is mine! SERIOUSLY!!! I am so loving this! I can't wait to print some off!! If you love the look of old polaroids then please check out both of these sites. They are FREE and they are FABULOUS!!!
Supplies: Paper plates (I used 7 inch plates), ribbon or fabric, cardstock, Reminisce letter stickers.
I used my Bind-it-all and punched holes in the top of my plates. I tried to punch in the same place on each plate since it had a design on it. I threaded torn fabric through the holes to join the plates on the garland. I cut 3 1/2 inch circles and pop dotted them onto the center of the plate. I then added my sticker letters to spell "Christmas". You could make your garland say anything you wanted. With the plates costing about $1.50 for twelve and some fabric and cardstock on hand, this was a very cheap and quick little banner to make!

So every 5 years or so my son has to have an IQ test so he can continue to qualify for services he receives such as respite and day camp during the Summer. Well, yesterday I took off work to take him to his testing. The highlight for me was being able to sit outside the room and listen in on the testing. Autism has such a wide range of effects and it is always interesting to me to hear/see how my son interprets things we may take for granted. I am always astounded by how his brain works and I was not disappointed! One of the questions she asked was red and green are examples of.....and after he echoed her words she told him the answer....colors. After several question/answers he seemed to get it. My favorites were gas/food are examples of.....his answer...convenience store! Makes sense to me! Another one, car/boat....his answer....gas and oil. I get that one too! My favorite was defining words. This boy can spell correctly many words with many syllables but defining for him is difficult. However, he was creative on this one....curious. His answer...George the monkey and Alice in Wonderland! Needless to say, he remains in the mild retardation category and I am okay with that. The biggest compliment of all was the test givers complete joy in working with him and telling me how polite and wonderful he was to test. At 6 feet and some odd inches he is the biggest kid she had tested in a while!! I was so proud of my gentle giant and HE was so proud of himself too. He often tells me "no Autism" and I want him to know that it is just a box that is checked on a form that helps him get the help he needs...it doesn't define who HE is. He is so much more than a label. It was inspiring to get a glimpse into his thought processes and it makes me realize how much he really DOES know and understands and can relate to. In a month, this boy becomes an adult, and I look forward to all the wonderful things that lay ahead of him!

It was so nice to get away with my best girlfriends this weekend. We had not been able to get together to get away since our trip in April to Key West! We stayed in the St. Charles/Geneva Illinois area and loved every minute of it. The highlight for us was the Kane County Flea Market that is held every month. Uh yeah....we did some damage there! Well some of us more than others! :) Here is a photo of two of my friends and their purchases......and yes, that is a CART!!!! I can't wait to go back in the Spring when we can bring a trailer with us!
They got some good deals so more power to them! Here are a few shots from the weekend and I am so grateful to have such fun-loving, supportive, loving friends! Thank you girls! You mean the world to me!
